I thought this was a super cute way to hide paper towels. Because it is made of pottery, it looks good setting on your countertop. I found one like this at Paxis Place Pottery for $125. Kind of expensive for hiding paper towels, but not as much as having a cabinet custom made. However, I am thinking that something like this could be made relatively easy.
Enter the wall mounted paper towel holder. Or in my case, the under cabinet mounted paper towel holder, because the walls of my kitchen are covered in subway tile and I don’t want to drill into it and lose my deposit.
If you are looking for a complete designer kitchen, then perhaps a paper towel drawer is right up your alley. You can have one of these drawers made by the cabinet maker for a premium price, or if you are a DIYer , you can convert a drawer yourself.
here are two problems with this: one is that the holder occupies precious countertop real estate. The other is that a path must be open to reach for the paper towels, so it’s awkward to place anything in front of them. Reaching across a crowded countertop, knocking things over to get to the paper towels... not great.
But it turns out to be pretty functional as well. In an Amazon review quoted by The Strategist, a shopper points out, “being marble it also is quite heavy and gives the paper-towel roll a strong, solid base. This makes it easier to rip these off, and much more difficult to accidentally knock them over because the weight of the marble is now adding stability.”
